I’m Lydia Cobb — part
mermaid surfer and cultural explorer. I’m also a freelance writer and have lots
of fun researching and writing about cultural and environmental news and
events.
I surf and live near
the ocean in San Diego north county. As a child in Georgia, I swam in cold
mountain streams, and in the summertime in the warm Atlantic ocean. Perhaps I’m
brackish — composed of fresh and saltwater veins.
My “car” is a 1965
neon blue Schwinn beach cruiser (the chain sometimes eats my jeans when I’m
carrying groceries back from the market, that’s another story).
When I surface from
the ocean, my friends and I explore museums, hidden and well-known attractions,
nature centers and state parks, live music and films, the best happy hours, and
organic foods in restaurants and markets. I’m an advocate of knowing our food
source, and reading the ingredients on packages. Sustainability is an important
theme in my life.
