The Roots
As early as the 1920s surfers began flocking to Orange County’s 42-mile coastline where they found the perfect wave 12 months a year.  With OC as its heart, surfing quickly grew into a cutting-edge lifestyle, ever-present in fashion, film and music.

Fast forward to the future.  Pros and beginners alike fall for the charisma of OC.  Where else can you hit the waves in the morning, take a short drive to the mountains and be “surfing” the slopes on your snowboard by noon? 

Take a look around:  the boards, the music, the style.  It’s all born right here.  VH1 dubs Orange County “The American Hip Factory.”  Dick Dale.  No Doubt.  The Righteous Brothers.  Social Distortion.  OC’s got serious pride for its history of hot local bands.  And now teenagers across the nation are infatuated with the OC lifestyle thanks to the popularity of FOX’s 2003 – 2007 hit The OC.

Today’s edgy active fashions radiate from OC’s pristine beaches.  Quiksilver.  Roxy.  Point Conception.  Paul Frank.  OC is style.  It’s also home to innovative accessory and eyewear companies like Oakley and Black Flys.  And it’s at the core of America’s youthful car culture (Toyota’s Matrix was designed right here).
